Tour Details

Southern Right whales and Humpback whales are usual guests of South African shores. You can expect to see Southern Right and Humpback Whales in the water of Southern Africa starting from July and almost until mid December. At the little and cosy town called Hermanus in about 1.5 hours driving from Cape Town somehow Sea giants love to come back here each year to relax, to mate and give birth to the next generation.

You will see whales very close from the shore. The tour includes a tour of Hermanus, a visit to the botanical garden of Hari Poter, a visit to the wine farm in the area and the observation of whales from the coast and on the boat trip.

What to Expect

Today our guide will take you on the 1.5 hours trip from Cape Town to get to the destination you will see whales closer. Although those sea giants love to come back every year to little coastal town Hermanus you might spot them around Cape Peninsula as well.

You will be taken to Hermanus by scenic route and . We proceed to town and stop at the harbor for the boat trip (weather permitted)

Southern right whales live in the sub polar and  latitudes of the Southern Ocean, usually between 30 ° and 50 ° south latitude. Regular observations of the southern whale are conducted from the shores of South America, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and small subantarctic islands. In winter, they migrate to mating in the warmer regions of the sea, and in the summer they search for food and move to the south. They ve been called right for their curiosity and easy hunt on. By statistics only 3000 southern right whales left in the world

You will as well enjoy walk along the beach, wine tasting at the local farm, walk at the Harold Potter Botanical garden.

Itinerary

Stop 1Cosy farm shop for tea&coffee and leg streching

After 1 hour scenic drive via N2 (National road #2) and go over the Sir Lowry Pass at the Overberg area where mountains covered by fynbos (local bush vegetation) and tall pine trees forests and little rivers along your tranquil route. You will make a stop at the local cosy farm shop at the Elgin town famous for as apple country as many apple farms around here. You can get fresh backed pastry, fruits and drinks here.

Stop 2Hermanus town

Hermanus town famous for whale watching from June to December of every year. Just a leg stretch 5 min stop.

Stop 3Ariival at the g Boat company to get on boat for whale watching

Boat trip will take you outside Walkers Bay and in deeper sea to spot Southern Right and Humpback whales.

Stop 4Light lunch and alk along the sea shore at the Hermanus

After th boat trip I’m sure you would love to eat something . We stop for a light lunch and walk on the sea shore in Hermanus.

Stop 5Wine farm & Tasting

Our stop will be at the one of the wine farms to enjoy some wines of local cool coastal area.

Stop 6Driving back to Cape Town

You ill be take by scenic route on by the coastal road

Stop 7Harold Potter Botanical Garden

On the way to Cape Town at the Betties Bay we ill stop for 20 min walk at the Botanical garden

Stop 8Arrival in Cape Town. Drop off at the hotel of your choice

On your arrival to Cape Town you will be dropped back at your hotel
